Cramer Children's Center's Holiday Caring Project

Help Kids like Liam this Holiday Season

My name is Liam. I’m ten now. When I first came to Cramer Children’s Center, I was eight. Back then, I didn’t talk much. I was scared to. At home, things were bad. The person who was supposed to take care of me was the one who kept hurting me. I didn’t understand why. I tried to be extra quiet so I wouldn’t make them mad. I kept hoping they’d be nice again, the way they used to be.

I didn’t tell anyone for a long time. I thought no one would believe me. Most of the time, I just felt small. I used to hide in my closet with my flashlight and my toy car, wishing I could take a ride in that car to some place else.

One day at school, my teacher noticed I wasn’t smiling anymore. She asked if I was okay. I wanted to tell her, but the words got stuck in my throat. Later, she talked to someone, and that’s how I ended up at Cramer Children’s Center.

When I got there, I was nervous. The lady who talked to me smiled and told me I was safe. The room had a soft couch and a stuffed bear. She said I could tell her anything. So I did. It was the first time I told the truth about what happened. She listened and didn’t get mad. She told me it wasn’t my fault.

After that, I met a nurse who helped make sure I was okay, and a counselor who helped me with my bad dreams. The people there helped me believe that grown-ups can be kind. They helped me feel brave.

Now I live with my grandma. We bake cookies and take walks with our dog, Lucky. I still go to therapy, and I still get scared sometimes, but it’s getting better.

I wanted to tell you my story because I know there are other kids like me who are scared and need a place like Cramer to help them feel safe again.

Please help them this holiday season so they can get better like me.

Your friend,

Liam

Liam’s story isn’t a real child’s story, but it is the story of the hundreds of children who walk through our doors every year at Cramer Children’s Center. Children who need a safe place to share their story and receive healing care to build hope for a better tomorrow.

This holiday season, we humbly ask you to help kids like Liam. Your gift provides:

  • Safe, child-friendly spaces for children to tell their stories

  • Trauma-focused therapy and counseling

  • Medical exams at no cost to families

  • Advocacy and support for non-offending caregivers

Because every child deserves to feel safe, and every story deserves to be heard.

Please consider making a special year-end gift today to help kids like Liam find the safety and healing they deserve. Together, we can give them the gift of hope.
